Renewing Your Licence

It feels like yesterday when you first went into your local RMS centre and got your learners licence and now you just received the letter which says its due to expire. Life can often become busy with work, studying, friends, plus everything else that keeps you on the go.

If you are currently on your learners licence it may seem quite difficult to be able to clock the required amount of hours with all your other commitments. Don't be alarmed, you can simply renew your learners licence and even your P's if they happen to expire.

Learners

To renew your learners licence you have to pass the Driver Knowledge Test again as well as the eyesight test and pay for the normal learner licence fees. The hours in your log book are still recognised prior to the expiry date of your licence, so you don't need to restart your hours.

P platers

There is no time frame to which P plate licence holders need to progress through the licensing scheme. Red and green P platers can progress through the system at their own pace.

If your P1 or P2 licence is about to expire before you've moved on to the next phase, then you can quite simply renew your licence. All you need to do is fill in the renewal form at your local RMS centre and pay the renewal fee. remember that you also need take some proof of identity with you.
