After an inspection by VicRoads officers, it has been revealed that 25 of the 32 Cootes fuel trucks inspected have major defect issues related to road safety. Cootes has grounded its Victorian fuel transporting trucks over the safety concerns.
VicRoads chief operating officers Peter Todd said, "Safety checks on fuel tankers revealed defects in brakes, shockers, air bags, loose bolts and oil leaks". This comes after a third of Cootes NSW fleet were ordered to stop operation due to safety concerns.
